Sipology Closes Permanently, Halting Orders and Commissions

Sipology Closes Its Doors Permanently, Halting All Orders and Commission Payments

April 23, 2026 – Canadian direct selling tea company  Sipology (formerly known as Steeped Tea) has shut down operations. The company has stopped accepting new orders and will not process commission payments.

The announcement was made in a message sent to independent representatives on April 20, 2026, and quickly shared on social media.

Founders Announce Difficult Decision

In a heartfelt letter to the field, Sipology founders Tonia Jahshan and Hatem Jahshan explained the closure was due to challenging financial circumstances.

The message stated:

Due to financial circumstances, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors. Online ordering has been halted immediately. Given the company’s financial position, we are unable to process commission payments.”

The founders noted that orders already placed will be processed where possible, but no new orders will be accepted. They also mentioned they will not be able to respond to individual inquiries going forward.

A Community Built Around Tea and Connection

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Ancaster, Ontario, Sipology built its brand around premium loose leaf teas, matcha, tea accessories, and a strong community-focused direct selling model.

Originally launched as Steeped Tea, the company operated for 18 years and became well-known in Canada for its home-party culture centered on connection, conversation, and shared moments over tea.

Mixed Reactions from Representatives and Customers

The sudden closure has triggered a wave of emotions among Sipologists, customers, and former representatives. Many expressed shock, sadness, and frustration over the abrupt end and the impact on unpaid commissions.

At the same time, some representatives reflected positively on the personal growth, friendships, and sense of community they gained during their time with Sipology.

End of an 18-Year Journey

This closure marks the end of an 18-year chapter for the Canadian direct selling brand. The news has left many distributors and loyal customers disappointed and uncertain.

The thoughts of the broader direct selling community are with all those affected by Sipology’s closure.
