Amway India Launches Nutrilite Ayurveda

Amway India Launches Nutrilite Ayurveda: A Strategic Entry into Traditional Wellness

Amway India has entered the Ayurveda category with the launch of Nutrilite Ayurveda. The company introduced nine new products that target rising demand for plant-based and preventive healthcare. It aims to grow this portfolio into a ₹100 crore category within two years. Products use Ayurvedic botanicals from NutriCert-certified farms and are made at the company’s facility in Tamil Nadu. This move expands Amway India’s wellness range while supporting India’s broader Ayurveda value chain through sourcing, manufacturing, research, and jobs.

Amway Global Roots and Ownership Structure

Amway was founded in 1959 in Ada, Michigan, by Richard (Rich) DeVos and Jay Van Andel. The two friends first distributed Nutrilite supplements in the late 1940s before creating their own company. Amway remains a privately held family business under the DeVos and Van Andel families. Current co-chairmen are Doug DeVos and Steve Van Andel. The parent company operates through Alticor and ranks among the world’s top direct-selling firms, with presence in more than 100 countries. Key brands include Nutrilite (nutrition) and Artistry (skincare and beauty).

Amway India’s Journey and Manufacturing Strength

Rajneesh Chopra, Managing Director of Amway India

Amway India Enterprises Private Limited was set up in 1995 as a wholly owned subsidiary and began commercial operations in 1998 with only six products. It has grown into one of India’s leading direct-selling FMCG companies with around 140 products. The company operates a LEED Gold-certified manufacturing plant in Nilakottai (near Madurai), Tamil Nadu, inaugurated in 2015. This facility is one of Amway’s three global manufacturing hubs (alongside the US and China). It produces nutrition, personal care, and other items and supports “Make in India” goals. Current directors include Managing Director Rajneesh Chopra, Whole-Time Director Vinay Kumar Narayan, and Director Scott Russell Balfour.

Leadership and Rajneesh Chopra’s Background

Rajneesh Chopra serves as Managing Director of Amway India (appointed around early 2024). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honours) from Delhi University and an MBA in International and Domestic Marketing from FORE School of Management. He also completed a Leadership Executive Acceleration Program at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Chopra started his career at Revlon, helping launch the brand in India. He spent many years at Amway (including roles as Senior Vice President of Sales and leadership in North America), briefly served as Chief Commercial Officer at Immunotec, and then returned to lead Amway India. Under his leadership the company focuses on compliance, innovation, and growth aligned with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Core Product Portfolio Beyond the New Launch

Amway India’s range centers on Nutrilite, the world’s leading vitamin and dietary supplement brand. It offers plant-based nutrition products made with ingredients from certified organic farms (global farms in the US, Mexico, and Brazil, plus NutriCert partners in India). Other key lines include Artistry Skin Nutrition (premium skincare), Glister oral care, home care products, and consumer durables. Earlier Ayurveda-linked items such as Nutrilite Chyawanprash already existed. Products emphasize seed-to-supplement traceability, rigorous testing (including DNA fingerprinting and contaminant checks), and quality standards that often exceed basic regulations.

Details of the Nutrilite Ayurveda Launch

The first phase brings three formulations: Kalamegha (supports healthy liver function), Shigru or moringa (helps manage fat deposition and inflammation), and Vrikshamla or garcinia (supports metabolism and satiety). These are AYUSH-registered and priced at MRP ₹449, ₹651, and ₹449 respectively. They became available from 8 September 2026 through Amway Business Owners, stores, and amway.in. Ingredients come from organically cultivated NutriCert-certified farms. Formulations combine traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with Nutrilite’s more than 90 years of botanical science, multi-step testing for safety and consistency, and full traceability. The remaining products in the nine-item range will follow.

Quality Focus, Consumer Trust, and Future Outlook

Consumers now prefer proactive wellness with clear sourcing, efficacy, and authenticity. Nutrilite Ayurveda addresses this by promising “Every Herb Has a Story. We Make Sure It’s True.” The range supports India’s AYUSH ecosystem and aims to create economic value across agriculture, manufacturing, and employment. Amway India positions the products as Made in India for India, with potential to take traditional wellness global. The launch builds on the company’s long-term investment in local capabilities and scientific validation to meet rising demand for trusted plant-based preventive healthcare.
