The new brand is named after Matty, the 180-pound Spanish Mastiff of Olive Tree People Founder Thomas Lommel. Known as a gentle giant who was friendly with small animals, Matty became a local celebrity in Venice Beach. People often asked, “Is that Matty?” when they saw him walking along the canals.
Matty passed away in February 2025. This brand serves as a heartfelt tribute to keep his spirit alive through innovative, high-quality pet products.
Olive Tree People aims to capitalize on the rising “pet humanization” trend. The global pet industry is projected to reach $23 billion by the end of the decade.
