SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Ahead of World Health Day on April 7, Kevin Guest, Chairman and CEO of USANA Health Sciences, is urging people to move beyond awareness and focus on daily action to improve their health.
The guest emphasizes that most people already know what to do. However, they struggle with consistency.
“Most people know how to improve their health; they just don’t do it consistently,” he said.
According to Guest, the biggest challenge is not a lack of information. Instead, it is the gap between knowing and doing.
He explains that people are overwhelmed with health advice. What they truly need is execution.
“Health is shaped by what you do every day, not what you plan to do,” the guest added.
Research supports this view. Studies from the University of Scranton and the European Journal of Social Psychology show that most New Year’s resolutions fail within months. By spring, commitment levels often fall below 50%.
The guest highlights that long-term success depends on consistent habits rather than short bursts of motivation.
Structured routines, reduced decision fatigue, and accountability systems are key factors in achieving lasting results.
“Awareness alone doesn’t change your life. Action does,” he said.
He believes personal accountability is the foundation of better health outcomes.
The guest points out that April is a more honest checkpoint than January. By this time, initial motivation has faded, and real habits are revealed.
“April tells the truth. This is where you reset, not with new goals, but with better systems,” he explained.
This period offers an opportunity to refine routines and focus on sustainable habits.
Guest’s philosophy aligns with his bestselling book, All the Right Reasons: 12 Timeless Principles for Living a Life in Harmony.
The book emphasizes that clarity of purpose drives consistent action.
“When your ‘why’ is strong, your actions naturally follow,” Guest said.
The guest also stresses the importance of accountability. He references Benjamin Franklin as an example of tracking daily habits to improve behavior.
Without structure, it becomes easy to lose focus. However, having support systems significantly increases success rates.
“When you have structure and support, your odds of success increase dramatically,” Guest noted.
As World Health Day approaches, Guest encourages people to shift their mindset. Instead of chasing intensity, they should focus on consistency.
“Small actions done daily will outperform big efforts that don’t last,” he said.
This approach leads to sustainable and meaningful health improvements.
All proceeds from Guest’s book support the USANA Foundation.
Each purchase provides 40 meals to children in need. So far, the foundation has delivered over 112 million meals and aims to support 20,000 families by the end of 2026.
